Basford was also home to three breweries. Shipstones, Basford Brewery and the Prince of Wales Brewery. Basford Brewery was taken over by Shipstones which are the most widely known. The Prince of Wales is long closed; however the building remains and is utilised by Murphy’s Chemical Works.
